Mr. Ray was born at Independence, VA, to the late William Harrison Ray and Zella Faye Joines Ray.

Surviving, Five sons, Michael Ray of Middleton, DE, Darrell Ray and wife, Debbie of Cochranville, PA, Lewis Ray and wife, Debbie of Northeast, MD, Kevin Ray of Cornelius, NC, and, Gary Ray of Northeast, MD; one daughter, Monica Sherman of Newark, DE; Fourteen grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; one sister, Bonnie R. Reeves of Independence, VA; one niece and four nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Saddle Creek Cemetery, Independence, VA;

Rev.Bob Cheeks will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until time for the funeral service on Saturday.
