Mr. Cheeks was born at Traphill, NC, to the late Rufus Leonard Cheeks nad Nancy Irene Crab Cheeks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Louise Cheeks.

Surviving, two daughters and spouse, Wanda and Tommy Smith of Independence, VA, and Rene Peak of Mouth of Wilson, VA; three sons and spouses, Bob and Rena Cheeks and Jim Cheeks of Independence, VA, and Hack and Jo Ann Cheeks of Elk Creek, VA; ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Saddle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM on Sunday until time for the funeral service and at other times at the home of Mr. Cheeks.
