Jack was born at Fries, Virginia, to John Quincy Cox and Laura Kirby Cox.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Surviving, three daughters and spouses, Linda and Curtis Anders, and Cindy and Ronnie Lineberry all of Galax, Va., Cheryl Childress of Fries, Va.; one son, Johnny R. Cox of Galax, Va.; son-in-law, Kenneth Slate of Independence, Va.; brother-in-law, Sandy Lam of Galax, Va.; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Full Gospel Revival Center on Glendale Road, Galax, Va.; Rev. Sam Kinzer, Rev. David Farmer and Rev. Darrin Kinzer officiating. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Independence, Va., with Military rites by Grayson County VFW Post 7726.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m., and at other times at the home of Linda and Curtis Anders, 300 Red River Lane, Galax, Va;

Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 674 Hillsdale Drive, Suite 1, Charlottesville, Va. 22901
