Acey Clifton "Dick" Widner, age 79, of Fires, Virginia died at Twin County Community Hospital in Galax, Virginia on June 1, 2019.   He was born on June 6, 1939 to Ace Clifton and Minnie Faye Murray Widner in Damascus, Virginia.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, John Widner and Andy Widner and sisters, Irene Boyles, and Euna Faye Johnson.

He is survived by one daughter, Julia Surratt of Galax, Virginia; brother, Billy and Elaine Widner of Galax, Virginia and three sisters; Bonnie Elliott of Fries, Virginia, Wanda and Junior Eads of Winston-Salem, NC and Betty and Larry Draper of Woodlawn, Virginia.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 3:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Johnson with burial to follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Independence, Virginia.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 -3:00 PM prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
