Ada Ruth Cassell Farmer, age 84, of Independence, VA passed away on Friday, Jan 24, 2025, at the Grayson Health and Rehab Center in Independence.  She was born on May 5, 1940, in Roanoke, Virginia to Joe Mike and Ada Rose Cassell.  She was a 1959 Graduate of Independence High School.  She was a dedicated employee at Darco Southern and gave several years of service to Walters Drug Store in Independence, VA.  Ada Ruth was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church for thirty years.  She will be remembered as dedicated wife and mother providing a warm and comfortable home for her family.  The pride of her life was her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Rex Farmer of the home; one son, Jimmy and Kim Farmer of Independence:  two grandsons, Mitchell Farmer of Independence, VA, and Trent Farmer and fiancée, Stacy Shumate of Independence; cousin, Randy and Margaret Williams of Sparta, NC; special friends, Norma Osborne of Mouth of Wilson, VA and Harold and Sharon Walters of Independence, VA; granddaughter, Amanda and Hunter Hoback of Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Leta Farmer of Independence, VA.

Memorial services will be conducted on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 at the Mt. View Baptist Church with the Pastor, David Osborne officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment will follow later at the Independence Cemetery.
