Adah Louise
Hash Parsons
September 26, 1935 — February 2, 2024
Independence
Adah Louise Hash Parsons, age 88, of Independence, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on September 26, 1935, to the late Guy and Creola Hash.
Louise loved planting flowers, pulling weeds, and diligently monitoring the events on the scanner to ensure everyone stayed informed about any local developments. She tackled furniture rearrangements with determination, and when assistance was slow arriving to help, she handled the task alone and later complained with a backache!
Louise loved biscuits, fruitcake, Christmas festivities, lime Christmas punch and her signature Jell-O lime salad. She took pride in preparing the best ever oyster stew and enjoyed fried oysters and yeast rolls.
Louise treasured reminiscing about the past, reflecting on memories, and creating lasting moments with her children and grandchildren. She found great joy in seeing everyone happy and laughing, and she herself enjoyed the simple joy of laughter. Her dedication extended beyond family, as she often baked cakes and gave to others in times of sickness or grief. Louise was a lady of great faith and her family is greatly comforted in knowing that she has laid aside the trials of this life and has entered into eternal joy.
Louise is survived by her three sons, Donald (Geneva) Parsons of Elk Creek, VA; Ronald (Teresa) Parsons of Troutdale, VA; David (Amy) Parsons of Mouth of Wilson, VA; one daughter, Regina VanHoy of Independence, VA; five grandchildren, Timothy and Sammi Parsons, of Elk Creek, VA, Tiffany and Brad Boyer of Independence, VA, Stephanie and Matt Hall of Marion, VA, Chris and Gwendolyn Parsons of Independence, VA, and Matthew Huff of Lexington, NC; Nine great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter, Oakley, also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning February 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Reins ~ Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, with David VanHoy speaking. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
