Obituary

Alfred Dolinger went to his heavenly home on December 5th 2024 at 4:06pm at his home surrounded by love and family that treasured him.  He passed as peacefully as he lived.  Alfred was born April 30th 1929.

He was one of 13 brothers and sisters, two did not survive childhood. He had a full and blessed life with an incredible partner, Joyce together they raised an amazing family with five children, their first born was premature and was only alive a few days, they carried that pain (tucked away) throughout their lives. Like many other relatives and friends from these mountains, he went to northern Virginia for a good job and retired back to the mountains after raising his family. He served in the Airforce and met his beautiful bride while stationed in Kansas. He had an incredible wit and a constant twinkle in his eye. Many were impressed by his skills in checkers, pool and pretty much everything he did.. He lives on in his children , grandchildren , and great-grandchildren.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents John & Laura Dolinger, his son Alfred Craig Dolinger, his spouse of 59 years Joyce Angel and all of his siblings EXCEPT his sweet sister Emegene Wyatt of Chilhowie, Va.

Alfred is also survived by his loving children: Marvin & spouse Cindy Dolinger of Massachusetts, JC and spouse Kirstin Dolinger of Pennsylvania, Danny and spouse Christina Wolfe - Dolinger of Stanton, Va. and daughter Terrisa Dolinger of Galax, Va  Grandchildren Eric, Ian, Evon and spouse Michael, Mecca, Michael and spouse Samantha, Alex and Jack.  Great grandchildren: Mia, Maeleigh, Janiyah, Enrico, Nailah, Avion, Marley, Forrest, Jace, Sadie and Averi Joyce.  Several treasured neices and nephews and theirs. Several friends and neighbors (he never met a stranger ) He will be missed the rest of our lives… They just don't make um like him anymore…
