Obituary

Anna Marie Peak, age 71, of the York Ridge Community of Mouth of Wilson, passed away in the evening hours of Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the Grayson Rehab and Nursing Center, following a five-day stay at the nursing home. She was born on July 18, 1954, in Marion, Virginia to Lee Ander and Mazell Thorn Hall, who preceded her in death.

She was a seamstress spending most of her working years in the textile industry. She was a devoted Christian who was a dedicated member of the Upper Helton Christian Unity Church where she served as a member and pastor's wife for the past 36 years.  She was a constant support and encouragement to her husband.  She was a loving wife and mother who delighted in keeping her family safe, warm, and comfortable in her home.  Her family always enjoyed her chicken and dumplings.  She was known for her excellent potato salad which was always well received wherever it was taken!  Her love of the outdoors was evident not only in the time she spent there, but in the many hours she shared with her son out of doors.  She was by his side with his first successful deer hunting expedition and often accompanied him on fishing trips.  She was a doting mother who was always ready to share about her son who was her pride and joy.  Marie loved all people and had an equal love for animals, especially dogs and hummingbirds.  She had the ability to attract hummingbirds using her secret recipe for nectar.  She spent the summer months enjoying the "hummingbird show"  and was always sad to see another season end.  The passing of Marie has left a great void in the hearts of her family and her community.  She has laid aside the toil and trials of this life and has entered the joys of her eternal home for which she sought so long, bringing great comfort to her family.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Peak of the home; one son, Jamie and Megan Peak of Millers Creek, NC; one sister, Clara Mae and Lee Gullion of Atkins, VA; several nieces and nephews, in-laws, and a host of neighbors and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Mash officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Crumpler, NC.
