With great sadness the family of Annette Lynn Buchanan, age, 54, of the Whitetop Community announces her passing in the early afternoon hours of Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Francis Marion Nursing Center in Marion, VA. She was born on April 4, 1972, in Jefferson, NC to Scott and Clara Pennington Buchanan. Annette lived a life dedicated to others. Her caring personality and giving spirit will be her legacy and will be remembered for years to come. As a CNA, she was a dedicated nurse who won the respect and admiration of her patients as well as her peers and associates. She served at Margate Health and Rehab for much of her career. The compassion that she extended to everyone was most evident within the ranks of her own family. She was a loving and supportive mother to her three daughters and a doting grandmother to her four grandchildren who brough so much joy to her. She was a dutiful daughter, who was very attentive to her parents, especially to her dad following the death of her mother. She enjoyed her church family and was a loyal and devoted member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. Annette was an uncompromising fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Her dedication to them knew no limits! In her leisure time, she was most content on the beachside enjoy the rays of the sun. The family takes great comfort in knowing that Annette has finally reached her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her mother, and is survived by three loving daughters, Kayla and Logan Walls of Chilhowie, VA, Natasha and Dakota Loggins of Mouth of Wilson, VA, and Mekenzie Brown of Winston-Salem, NC; father, Scott Buchanan of Whitetop, four grandchildren, Carter Walls, Layne Loggins, Allie Loggins, and Madilynn Loggins; two brothers, Scott and Dedra Buchanan and Jamie Buchanan all of Whitetop, several nieces and nephews as well as cousins also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Whitetop Community/ Miller Cemetery at 173 Whitetop Gap Road, Whitetop, VA 24292 with Pastor Chris Goodman officiating.
The family respectively request no food or flowers and memorial contributions be made to the Whitetop Community/ Miller Cemetery c/o Michael Hensley 16282 Highlands Parkway Whitetop, VA 24292.
Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA is serving the Buchanan family.
