CHRISTMAS CANDLELIGHT SERVICE
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2025 3:00 PM
REINS-STURDIVANT FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL
With the Thanksgiving holiday just behind us, we are reminded the Christmas Season is once again upon us. Those of us who have dedicated our lives to serving in the funeral industry understand these first holiday seasons can be difficult. Not only must you face the absence of your loved one, but often the pain associated with that loss is rekindled. We realize each of you are in different stages in your grief journey. While some of you will immerse yourselves in every holiday activity you can find to seek comfort, others receive equal comfort by staying at home. There is no wrong or right way to grieve. As the old Swedish proverb states, "a shared joy is a double joy; a shared sorrow is half a sorrow." We want to provide a time for you to come together and allow your loss to be recognized and shared. This is our 4th Annual Christmas Candlelight Service of Remembrance and the response each year is usually the same: "it helped me to know that I was not alone, and many others had the same anxieties about the holidays as I did." Our service this year will include a pictorial acknowledgement of everyone we served this year and allow for members of their family to be recognized.
Our guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. Doug Turnmire, former chaplain of Oak Hill Academy. He is recognized as an outstanding speaker who will enlighten and inspire you with helpful ideas and suggestions on how to find inspiration and meaning in this Christmas season.
As of November 30, 2025, we have served 146 families which is an increase of 30 families from the same date last year. We invite everyone to this service with special recognition being paid to families that we have served this past year. Each of our families will be given a memorial candle bearing the photo of their loved one and families are again invited to bring an ornament to place at our Wreath of Remembrance at the front entrance of the funeral home. You may visit the wreath from December 1st- January 1st. Ornaments will later be donated to the local group home.
It is our most esteemed honor to serve you in your time of loss. We do not take lightly the responsibility you have placed in us. We hope that you and your family will join us for this service of remembrance, December 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be livestreamed, and you may join us via internet on our website by clicking on the Live stream icon at the 2025 Service of Remembrance.
