Barbara J. Smith Triplett, age 75, of Troutdale, VA, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. Barbara was born on November 30, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland to David Bryant and Annie Anderson Smith. She faithfully served her country in the United States Air Force. After her military service she worked in the custodial capacity, then later in the textile industry, and in the latter years before retiring, she worked as a CNA.

Barbara enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a faithful member of Baptist Union Church in Flat Ridge, VA. Even during the latter months/year that she was ill, she always tried to attend when physically capable. In earlier years, she and her husband served as youth leaders for several years.

Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as they grew up and spoiled them very well. She then got to start trying to enjoy her great grandchildren.

Barbara also enjoyed working on her loom crocheting making table placemats and coasters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Bryant W. Smith, Sr. and Raymond S. Smith; father-in-law, Lonnie Triplett; sister-in-law, Linda Triplett; and great granddaughter, Sadie Marie Annie James.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Barry Triplett of the home; two daughters: Tammy and Mike Manning, of Galax, VA, and Melinda and Dennis James, of Flatridge, VA; one son: Chris and April McShane, of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren: Colby James and fiancée Shannon; Cydney James and Dakota; John and Mary Beth Seay; Cameron Manning and fiancée Nicole; six great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Audrey Anderson and Todd; Carolyn Smith; Carol Smith; Jana Jones; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 12 noon at Baptist Union Church in Flat Ridge with Pastor Andy Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will follow with military honors performed by the Grayson County VFW Post #7726.
