Benjamin Daniel Cleary, age 91, of Sanford, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Harford County, Maryland on October 9, 1931 to the late Johnny Cleary and Isabelle Wagner Cleary.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Emel Louise Anderson Cleary; siblings Mary Cleary, Keith Cleary, Willard Cleary, Virginia Petty and Ronnie Cleary.  Mr. Cleary worked various jobs throughout his life, including tow motor operator, working for a clothing manufacturer, Civil Service and in the construction industry. He and his late wife, Louise, loved reading their Bible while being surrounded by their beautiful ceramic angels in their living room.  He enjoyed singing in his church and was a member of   Shield of Faith Baptist Church.  More than anything, he loved his children and extended family.

He is survived by his children Betty Worsham, Barbara Churchill, David Cleary and wife Cheryl, Bonnie Nedrow; and siblings Harrison Cleary, Carrie Perkins, Sheba Smith, Kyle Cleary, Bobby Cleary and Hobert Cleary.  He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.

A graveside service will be held at Baptist Union Church Cemetery in Troutdale, Virginia on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bobby Cleary officiating.
