Benny Medley, age 61, of Elk Creek, Virginia passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.  He was born on October 11, 1961, in Jefferson, NC to Allen Winford and Pearl Barker Medley.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Misty Dawn Medley.

Benny loved throwing horseshoes and was the "self-proclaimed" family champion.  He was an avid softball fan and was known as "Benny Bundy" on the softball field.  He was a collector of knives and was also a knife craftsman.  He designed and created many knives.  He was a fan of Marshall Arts and was a collector of monkeys.  He was pro with a chainsaw!   Wherever Benny could be found, his dog, "Little Feller" was not far behind!

He is survived by two sons, Benny "B.J." Medley, Jr.  and Joe Medley both of Elk Creek, VA; one daughter, Michelle Medley of Elk Creek, VA; three sisters, Patsy and Phil Segraves of Laurel Springs, NC, Peggy and Johnny Cox of Todd, NC, Polly and Robert Gilbert of Fleetwood, NC; several nieces and nephews; and a very special great niece, Antigini Garrett who remained at his side until the end.

Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at 2:00 at the Poe Cemetery in Ashe Park Jefferson, NC with Speaker Johnny Cox officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home, PO Box 306, Independence, VA 24348.
