Betty Edith Rose Stevens Montgomery was welcomed into her Heavenly home on Jan.  26, 2023.  She completed her life as she lived it, a dedicated soldier of the cross.  Her greatest joy in life was her commitment to serving our Lord Jesus Christ by serving others.  She was born on August 3, 1932, in the Fox Community of Independence, Virginia to Josh Bryant and Jincy Belle Young Rose.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Charlie D. Stevens and her second husband, Joseph S. "Skebo" Montgomery, and her brother, Ralph Bryant Rose.

Betty will be remembered as loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Many will remember her service as a dedicated and loving pastor's wife.  In every aspect of her life, she was driven by one goal; to bring honor to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She delighted being in her garden; both vegetable and flower and sharing the harvest with friends and family alike.  She was celebrated as an unsurpassed cook and baker.  She loved to can and freeze. She was a dedicated church worker and attended church as long as her health permitted.  She was continually concerned about the welfare of others and always putting their needs before hers.

Remaining to cherish her memory and continue her work is her three sons, Willard and Chun Stevens of Galax, Virginia, Rev. Grover Neal and Mi Stevens of Bedford, VA, and Pastor Avery and Ellen Stevens of Danville, VA; six grandchildren, Julia and Ricky Hodge, Timmy and Amanda Stevens, Samuel Stevens, Hannah and Dagan Willis, Cindy Stevens, and Daniel Stevens; five great grandchildren, Landon, Blake Amber, Autumn, and Raylan.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.  Officiating will be her two sons, Rev. Grover Neal Stevens and Pastor Avery Stevens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Gold Hill Cemetery.
