Mr. Purkey was born in Hot Springs, Virginia to Jonas Lee and Pearl Addington Purkey. Mr. Purkey was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Campaign. Mr. Purkey passed away at his home in the Grant Community, September 9, 2018

Surviving, is his devoted wife, Trula Fay Parks Purkey of the home, son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Jean Purkey of Alexandria, VA; and daughter, Diana Gilbert of Springfield, VA; also surviving are five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren , and several nieces and nephews

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, VA;
Visitation with the family will be at 1:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service. Conducting the funeral service is granddaughter, Rev. Leah Harlow of Wake Forest, NC and grandson, Daniel Purkey of Alexandria, VA
