Bobby Ray Rutherford, age 87, of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, died on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Independence, Virginia.  He was born on May 1, 1934 in Hartford County Maryland to Hurd and Golda Mink Rutherford.  He was a retired surveyor with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Funeral services for Mr. Rutherford will be held on December 18, 2021 at 2:00 at the Little Wilson United Methodist Church in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia.  Rev. Jack Rutherford and Pastor Mike Newman will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior the funeral at the church. A private committal service will follow in the Samuel Pugh Cemetery in Mouth of Wilson.

Mr. Rutherford is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Thomas Ford of Raleigh, North Carolina; two grandsons, Stephen Ford and Carson Ford both of Raleigh, North Carolina; Sister-in-law, Patricia Rutherford of Conway, South Carolina; brothers-in-law, Ron Osborne (Margaret) of Statesville, North Carolina and Jerry Osborne (Faye) of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia; four nieces that were also caregivers, Cindi Rutherford Hucks and Christi Rutherford Coffin both of Conway, South Carolina, Lisa Osborne Blevins of Mouth of Wilson and Shelly Osborne Clampett of Independence, Virginia; several other nieces and nephews and their families as well as is loyal companion dog, Tessie, also survive.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Rutherford was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Osborne Rutherford; brother, Patrick Rutherford; and sister, Rinda Rutherford.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Rugby Rescue Squad 1845 Rugby Road Mouth of Wilson, Virginia 24363.
