Bolena Greer
Ravelin
May 19, 1943 — August 4, 2025
Bolena Greer Ravelin, age 82, of the Whitetop Community passed away at her home surrounded by her family on the evening of Monday August 4, 2025. Bolena, affectionally known as "Bo," was born in the Green Cove Community of Washington County Virginia on May 19, 1943, to Vinton and Polly Louetta Riffey Greer. Bo was a well-known and favorite personality of the Whitetop and surrounding communities. She never met a stranger and way always quick to speak her mind. As a true individual and unique person, she was oblivious to modern trends and current style. She delighted in maintaining her home which was always immaculate. She took the same amount of pride in her lawn which was always accented with manicured flower beds. Her love of hard work and outdoors was exemplified in the dedication she gave to the Blevins Cemetery as the caretaker of the cemetery for more than ten years. Bo will be remembered as a most generous person, always willing to help anybody in need. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Robert Dale Ravelin who preceded her in death. She was a loving mother to her two daughters and her son. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and taking them to the top of Whitetop Mountain where they enjoyed drinking spring water. While Bo was well acquainted with loss and grief, she was a lady of great faith which she was always willing to share. She always seemed to preserve and come through each loss by encouraging others in their own grief journey. Bo found joy in simple things. She loved watching western movies accompanied with a glass of Pepsi! She was a devout Clint Eastwood fan. She delighted in a meal of Maryland Crabs! And finally at the hour of sunset with the work and struggles of the day behind her, Bo loved to sing. She would raise her voice in thanksgiving for the blessing of another day behind her and for the faith and grace to face another tomorrow. Now our beloved Bo has arrived home reunited with all her family and friends where they are eternally rejoicing and singing. Sing on sweet Bo, sing on!
In addition to her husband and parents, Bo was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Ravelin; daughter, Sherry "Sam" Ravelin; granddaughter, Miranda Mallette; sister, Marie Greer, brothers, Cecil, Harmon, Leslie, Junior, Hunter, and Elisie.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Graham of Maryland; six grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Vanessa Taylor and Adele Adkins both of Whitetop, VA and Ann Barran of Winchester, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday morning at 11:00 AM at the Whitetop Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Walls officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will follow in the Blevins Cemetery.
Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home is serving the Ravelin family.
