Carol Lee Warren Simms, age, 88 of Elk Creek, the Comers Rock Community, passed away peacefully at her home on Nov. 6, 2025, surrounded by love. She was born in the Volney community of Mouth of Wilson on January 14, 1937, to Preston and Treva Perkins Warren.  She was a graduate of Oak Hill Academy.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Darin Simms, her husband, John C. Simms, brother, Kenneth (Kenny) Warren; and her sister Vita Clark.

Carol loved her Savior, Jesus, and shared that love with others in a gentle and genuine way. A longtime member of Mt. Zion Church, she opened her home for Bible study for many years, creating a space filled with faith, laughter, and fellowship.

Carol also enjoyed her time with friends in her bowling league, where her friendly spirit and sense of humor made every game more fun. She had a warm laugh, a listening heart, and a gift for making everyone she met feel known and cared for.

She was a dear friend to many and a shining example of quiet strength—enduring life's hardships with grace and without complaint. Her kindness, faith, and friendship touched countless lives. Thank you, Carol, for loving us so well.

She is survived by her daughter, Renae Simms of the home; three sisters, Joan and Sam Phipps of Independence, VA, Gaynelle Johnson of Maryland, and Joyce Phipps of Independence; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday November 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel in Independence with Speaker Greg Sutherland and Rev. Darren Lambert officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.  Private burial will follow at the Comers Rock Cemetery.
