Carolyn Sue Rice, age 62, of Independence died May 5, 2019 in University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.  She was born on Feb. 24, 1957 in Asheville, NC to Andrew and Nancy Rice who preceded her in death.  She was formerly employed at Wilco in Galax and was a member at Gold Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by one sister Sandra, and Stevie Halsey of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, one brother, Darrell Rice and Terri of Coatesville, PA; two nephews; Rev. Robert Rice, and wife, Jennifer, of Muncy, PA, Jonathan Rice of Coatesville, PA; two nieces Jennifer Rice and fiance, Derek Vogel, of Wyomissing, PA and Jaclyn Rice of Coatesville, PA; great nieces, Alexa and Kaylyn Rice of Muncy, PA; and great nephews Cole and Cohen Rice, of Muncy, PA. A host of friends also survive.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of service. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday afternoon, at 2:00 PM at the Gold Hill Baptist Church by the Pastor, Rev. David Trent, and her nephew, Rev. Robert Rice. Burial will follow in the Silas Ward Cemetery on Gold Hill Road in Independence in the Gold Hill community.
