Charles March Kiser, age 90, of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia passed away June 14, 2021, at the Select Specialty Hospital at the Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, LaVerne Spencer Kiser. He is survived by two daughters, Rachel Kiser Fuller of Marion, Elizabeth Kiser Brown and husband Sherman of Elk Creek, and one son, Charles William Kiser and wife Melissa of Salem. Grandchildren include Mary Alex Phetterplace and husband Will of Newport, North Carolina, Blake Brown and fiancé Jasmine Brannon of Wytheville, Will Kiser of Salem, Tyler Brown and wife Stephanie of Elk Creek, and Shannon Brown and wife Naomi of Killleen, TX. Six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

March was born on March 7, 1931, to Charlie Cleveland Kiser and Mary Young Kiser. He attended Virginia Carolina for grade school and high school and Emory and Henry College. He was employed as a draftsman at Sprague Electric Company in Lansing, North Carolina, for 28 years. He was most proud of the fact that he was enlisted in the Army and served as Military Police at Sandia Base, New Mexico, and at Killeen Base, Texas, during the Korean War.

March was happiest when he was outdoors. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and basketball. His favorite TV show was Mountain Men. He was thoughtful before speaking, never complained, and was the "eternal optimist". He was the anchor for his family and will be sorely missed. The family expresses sincere appreciation for all the assistance provided by neighbors, caregivers, extended family, and all who came to his aid in his later years. We express special thanks to his caregiver, Kay Trivett, and his niece and farming partner, Evalynn Halsey.

A graveside service will be held in the Haw Orchard Cemetery on Friday, June 18, at 2:00 p.m. with Jack Rutherford, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rugby Rescue Squad. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence is in charge of arrangements.
