Clara Pennington Buchanan, age 71, of Whitetop, Virginia died on Friday, February 25, 2022, at her home.  She was born in Whitetop on June 25, 1950, to Garland and Callie Coldiron Pennington who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her husband, Scottie Buchanan, Sr.  of the home; one daughter, Annette Oliver of Whitetop; two sons, Scott and Dedra Buchanan of Whitetop and Jamie Buchanan of Whitetop; two brothers, Denver and Dare Pennington of Independence, Virginia and Frank Pennington of Marion, Virginia; four sisters, Betty and Warren Walls of Damascus, Virginia, Anna Lou Greer of Whitetop, Virginia, Mary Lou Cook of Independence, Virginia and Beverly and Roy Greer of Abingdon, Virginia; two special grandchildren, Kayla and Logan Walls of Chilhowee, Virginia and Natasha and Dekota Loggins of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, other grandchildren, Mekenzie Brown of West Jefferson, NC, Laken and Leah Buchanan of Glade Springs, Virginia, Brandon and Anna Buchanan of Whitetop, Virginia and Brady Buchanan of Whitetop, Virginia; three great-grandchildren also survives.

Graveside services will be conducted in the Whitetop Community Cemetery on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 2:00 by Rev. Russ Russell.
