The Grassy Creek Community is deeply saddened by the death of Clara Ruth Handy Hart, age 75, who passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Woltz Hospice House in Dobson, NC.

Clara was born on July 21, 1947, in the Grant Community of Grayson County to Jake and Wilma Cornett Handy. Clara was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was totally dedicated to her family and took great joy in providing for them.  She loved working in her garden and preserving and canning the harvest.  She found great pleasure in playing games with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed a game of Rummy with the family.  Clara was loved by everybody and she was a friend to all.  The family is greatly comforted in knowing that earth's loss was Heaven's gain.  She was a dedicated member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church for many years.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 57 years, Scott Hart of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Sid Finklea of Mouth of Wilson, VA; two granddaughters, Megan and Anthony Miller of Lexington, Kentucky and Sarah and Josh Denny of North Wilkesboro, NC; two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Vera Miller of Lexington, Kentucky; two sisters, Becky and Donnie Reedy of Grant, Virginia and Debbie Hodge of Virginia; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 1:00-2:00 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.  Graveside services will follow at the Grassy Creek Cemetery 420 Grassy Creek Road Grassy Creek, NC 28631 at 2:30 with Pastor David Moore officiating.
