Constance Minnie Braxton Slater, age 89, of the Elk Creek Community passed away at her home on the early hours of Monday, June 23, 2025, surrounded by her family.  She was born in Elk Creek on March 16, 1936, to Joe and Kate McKinney Braxton.  She worked in the furniture industry.  Constance will be remembered as one who was good hearted and served her community and provided for her family.  She lived a quite and simple life never requiring the spotlight, but happy working in the shadows serving her fellow man.  She will be greatly missed by her community and her family.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Mitchell Braxton of the home; one brother, Harley Braxton of Tazewell, VA; one granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; special caregivers, Barbara Braxton and Mary Thompson.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gleasanna Dixon officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:00 PM.  Burial will follow at the St. John's Cemetery in Elk Creek.
