In the early afternoon hours of December 18, 2025, at the Margate Health and Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson, NC the final breath escaped the body of Cornetta Richardson Price releasing her soul to soar to the heavenly regions where she immediately laid aside the cares of this life and was welcomed by a host of family and friends awaiting her arrival.  Cornetta traveled throughout the United States but never forgot her mountains which nurtured and sustained her throughout her life.  She was born in Grayson County on October 10, 1940, to Paul Edison and Helen Louise Young Richardson.  As the only daughter in a family of six brothers, she was the pride and joy of her Grandpa Young.             Armed with the resourcefulness forged from her mountain youth, she could make anything from nothing!  She was a dedicated mother who loved providing for her family.  She shared a bond with her girls bound in cords which could not be severed.  Cornetta was seemingly always at peace and comfortable in her environment.  While she could work at hard farm labor throughout the day, at the days end she could be found seated at the Barter Theatre with the grace and dignity that would rival anybody there.  She developed a strong faith from her youth which sustained her throughout her life.  Her religion was seated in the example of Christ; Cornetta embraced the servanthood of her fellow man.  Her home was a community hub where the lights were rarely extinguished.  She could be found ministering to sick patients at all hours, providing delivery for medication, helping people with completing governments papers, teaching people to read, offering instruction to people on how to drive, and sometimes it was simply offering a sympathetic ear to a troubled neighbor.  Cornetta loved her community and her neighbors with a Christ-like love.  She spent her lifetime serving them from the cradle of the infant to the deathbed of the aged.  She traveled throughout her area offering instruction on CPR and First Aid as a Red Cross training official.  She served on the Mt. Rogers Health Advisory Board as well as other health related boards.  For many years she worked with Dr. Gable's medical practice where she was a favorite among her community.  She was a mentor to many, a pillar in her community, and an inspiration to all who knew her.  Of the many endearing qualities of our beloved Cornetta, she will be best remembered for her love of her beloved mountain community. Amid all of this, she was a loving mother, who always had the time and took the time to train and instruct her children and grandchildren.  Cornetta was the embodiment of the spirit of the true mountaineer.  While her family, her community, and her neighbors are broken hearted at her passing, they rejoice at her gain.  They recognize that it was most fitting that Cornetta was called home during the Christmas season, her most favorite time of year!

She is survived by four daughters; Dana and Eddie Jones of Mouth of Wilson, VA (Rugby),Denise and Benny Ball of Independence, VA, Dawn and Ronnie Dolinger of Mouth of Wilson, VA, and Donya and Howard Graham of Lansing, NC; Four Brothers: Lowell Richardson of Mouth of Wilson, VA, Danny Richardson of Mouth of Wilson, VA (Rugby), Johnny and Deby Richardson of Abingdon, VA, and Jim and Ohna Richardson of Troutdale, VA (Flatridge): Grandchildren, Amanda and Jared Anders, Adam and Laure Jones, Nathaniel and Kathryn Ball, Brittany Ball and Jason Bourne, Joseph Pennington, Rose and Ryan Martin, Lydia Graham and Austin Haga, Elaina and Paul Phillips, Jessica Shumate, and Wendy Dolinger; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Tenley, and Perry Anders, Westyn and Corbyn Jones, (and one on the way), Charlotte and Evelyn Ball, Carter Earp, Keelan Pugh, Kason Ball, Zayden Bourne; sisters-in-law, Pat Richardson and Irene Richardson both of Mouth of Wilson, VA; brother-in-law, Ruben and Sharon Price of Lansing, NC; several nieces and nephews as well as her beloved fur baby, "Otis" also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Gayle Price, two brothers, Mack Richardson and Jack Richardson; sister-in-law, Evelyn Price and Dean C. Jones, Jr, Linda Spencer Richardson; nephew, Zon Richardson.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Faith Lutheran Church in Whitetop, VA with "her boy" Bro. Lundy Finley officiating.  Eulogies will be offered by Sharon Compton and David VanHoy.  Burial will follow in the Cole Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, December 21, 2025, at the Faith Lutheran Church from 5:00-7:00 PM.
