Daniel Alan Lane, age, 72 of Independence, Virginia died on November 22, 2020 at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  He was born on September 12, 1948 in Independence, Virginia to Carl F. Flora Houck Lane.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by stepfather, Chester Smith and brother Edgar Lane.

He is survived by  his wife, Barbara Lovill Lane of Galax, Virginia; two sons, Carl Lane and Charles Lane both of Galax, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Lane and Jeff Smith of Dugspur, Virginia, Ginger and Bobby Gilbert of Galax, Virginia; sister, Ruby Roberts of Independence, Virginia; grandchildren, Jeffrey Smith, Jr., Amber Smith and Gabriel Smith; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM by Pastor Doug Stuart at the Hackler Cemetery in Independence, Virginia.
