David Allen Ward, age 58, of Independence, Virginia, died Friday morning at the Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, Virginia.

He was born  in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia to Paul Steven and Ossie Hodge Ward on April 14, 1961. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Verna Paisley and Irene Carico, and three brothers, Guy Freeman, Ray Freeman, and Estil Freeman.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Gail Ward of the home, one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Sammy Reedy, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Larry Lineberry of Independence, Virginia, Wanda Osborne of Baywood, Virginia, Judy and James Wilson of Independence, Virginia, two very special grandchildren, Alex and Bradley Reedy of Independence, Virginia and several very special nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Osborne.  The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 prior to the funeral at the funeral home.  The burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Independence, Virginia.
