Deborah Jean Gamble Royal, age 64, of Independence, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.  She was born on March 5, 1959, in Maryland to Ralph Eugene and Naomi Perry Gamble who preceded her in death.  She graduated from Independence High School and worked as a seamstress in the textile industry.  Deborah will be remembered as a kind-hearted and giving person.  She loved hiking adventures with her mother and loved reading mystery novels.  She was a devoted aunt who treasured time with her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her daughter, Alisha Royal of Newfoundland, Canada; brother, Mike and Rena Gamble of Mouth of Wilson, VA; nephew, Chad and Brittany Gamble of Independence, VA; two nieces, Jessie and Justen Whitaker of Galax, VA and Shannon Gamble and Jayson Harmon of Mouth of Wilson, VA; aunt, Adinah and Loren Shumate of Virginia; uncle, Joe and Diana Perry of Mouth of Wilson,VA; great niece, Myleigh Gamble of Independence, VA and Jordyn Whitaker of Galax, VA; great nephew, Cade Gamble of Independence, VA.

The family is honoring Deborah's request for private services at a later date.
