Mr. Dewey Ronald Woods, known as Ronnie, age 68, of Independence, Virginia died on Friday evening, January 7, 2022 at the Alleghany Memorial Hospital from Covid-19 related issues.  Ronnie was born at home in Grayson County, Virginia on August 8, 1953 to Harding and Georgia Fortner Woods.  He was a private contractor and will be remembered as a highly skilled mason. In addition to his carpentry skills, Ronnie will be remembered as devoted brother and a dutiful son.

Surviving Mr. Woods, is his mother, Georgia Esther Fortner Woods of Independence, Virginia, two sisters, Bonnie and Richard Barker of Independence, Virginia and Brenda and Roger Brown of Jefferson, NC; one brother, Larry Woods of Independence; one nephew, Devin and Ashley Phipps of Winston Salem, NC; special friend, Charles and Joyce Yonce of Elks Creek, VA.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Woods.

Graveside services to honor the life of Mr. Woods, will be conducted on Monday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Grubb's Chapel Cemetery the Rev. Bob Cheeks officiating.
