Dorothy Claudine Osborne Blevins, age 96, of Independence, VA passed away at her home on Friday, August 11, 2023. She was born on August 6, 1927, to Troy Jackson and Eula Haga Osborne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Blevins, two brothers, Tom and Bob Osborne and one infant sister, Patsy Osborne, two sons-in-law, Donald Cornett and Gill Wetmore.

Dorothy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She died just as she had lived, a faithful and dedicated Christian. She witnessed her faith until the very end ministering to the ambulance drivers a few hours before her death. She served the Mt. View Baptist Church as Senior Adult Sunday School Teacher and was the director of Vacation Bible School for over 50 years. She was loyal to her family and was proud of each of them. As a military wife, she traveled and developed a special love of the ocean which she maintained throughout her life. She loved to read and was always interested in learning new things. As a strong lady of faith, she was able to persevere through many health problems and was always quick to give honor, credit, and thanksgiving to God for her healing.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shelby Wetmore and Linda Cornett both of Independence, VA; stepson, Jason Blevins of West Jefferson, NC; four sisters, Jean Reeves of Sparta, NC, Mary Trulock (Charles) of Glade Valley, NC, Nell Osborne of Independence, VA, Jane Gentry (Bobby) of Ennice NC; grandchildren, Debi, Larry, Troy, Greg and Beverly; eleven great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren also survive.

Memorial services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM the Mt. View Baptist Church with Rev. David Osborne and Rev. Rick Young officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Family Life Center at Mt. View Baptist Church. While flowers are appreciated, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt.
