Dorothy Louise Poole Poe, age 82, of Independence, Virginia died on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Grayson Rehab and Nursing Center in Independence, Virginia.  She was born on May 1, 1940, in the Comers Rock community of Grayson County to Wiley Ford and Ruby Louise Hackler Poole.

Mrs. Poe will be remembered as a devoted Christian- having a great love of the Lord. She was a humble and sweet person, never complaining about any task that lay before her.  She was consistent in life, always the same smile and the same laugh.  Regardless of her state in life when asked about her well-being she would faithfully respond "very well."  She was a celebrated cook with a strong affinity for sweets.  Her pickled eggs, fried apple pies, and Pinwheel candy were unsurpassed.  She had a strong love for her family and will be greatly missed.  Her family rejoices in knowing that at long last she is indeed "very well."

To mourn her loss is her husband, Kenneth Eugene Poe of the home; three daughters, Charlene and Jon Brewer of Sparta, NC, Darlene and Toby Sells of Mouth of Wilson, VA, and Malette and Shannon Holdaway of Mouth of Wilson, VA; step-daughter, Pam Kilman of Charlotte, NC; brother Roger and Carlene Poole of Woodlawn, VA; sister, Judy Jones of Alta Vista, VA; five grandchildren, Shane, Kacie and Matt, Grayson, Jenna, Lucas; one step-grandson, Michael; two great grandchildren, Carter and Jase; and one step great grandchild also survives.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel in Independence, VA with the Rev. David Osborne and the Rev. Doug Halsey officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the funeral service.  Burial will follow in the Comers Rock Cemetery.
