Edna Mae James Greer, 84, of Troutdale, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.   She was born on September 27, 1941, in the Flatridge Community of Grayson County to Guy Thomas and Drucie Elizabeth Vaught James.  She was a 1961 graduate of Virginia Carolina High School.  In 1961 immediately following her high school graduation she was married to Stanley Clay Greer.  She spent most of her working years in retail sales.  She was a faithful member of Glenwood Baptist Church.  She loved shopping trips with her "Flatridge friends."  She was devoted to her afternoon "soaps" and evening game shows which she thoroughly enjoyed.    She took great joy in providing for her family and was a doting grandmother to her only granddaughter, Hunter.  Edna was especially close to her "fur babies", which brought so much joy to her.  She will be remembered for her collection of owls which encompassed every space in her home.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Clay Greer.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam and Morris Thompson of Thomasville, NC; one son, Greg Greer of Troutdale, VA; granddaughter, Hunter Thompson of Thomasville, NC; very special devoted niece, Judy and Roger Mabe of Sparta, NC; her much beloved fur babies, Molly, Mitten and Little Bit; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 12:00 noon at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Jones and Rev. Mark Carico officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Baptist Union Cemetery in the Troutdale Community.
