Edward Madison Cornett, age 69, of Elk Creek, VA passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA.  He was born on December 22, 1955, in Wythe County Virginia to Edward Scott and Mildred Bates Cornett.

Eddie was a competitive Rook player who displayed great skill in playing the game.  He loved hunting mushrooms and wild Asparagus.  He enjoyed his time spent of the creek bank with his fishing pole in hand.  He was a master of instigating a heated discussion and was equally skilled at barking out orders! He spent his working years as a construction worker serving many different companies.

He is survived by one son, Jason Cornett of Independence, VA; one brother Bennie and Betty Cornett of Marion, VA; three sisters, Olivia Billings of Elk Creek, VA, Dealva and Dean Kimberlin of Saltville, VA, and Kathy and Ronald Ham of Whitetop, VA; special niece, Rebecca and Kevin Henley of Speedwell, VA; several other nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl B. Cornett.

The family is honoring Eddie's request by having no public funeral service.
