Eldridge Yancy "Deacon" Jones, age 79, of Elk Creek, Virginia died October 27, 2019 at his home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara S. Jones; survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa M. and Tim Horton of Elk Creek, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Rosie Jones of Elk Creek, Virginia; two brothers, P.J. and Jane Jones of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, and Chester Jones of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; three sisters, Shirley Jenkins of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, Ella Mae Draughn of Elkin, North Carolina, and Mirlie Dalton of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Nancy and Aubrey Caldwell of Elk Creek, Virginia, Maretha Harrington of Independence, Virginia, and Virginia Sutherland of Fries, Virginia; two grandsons, Adam Horton and Allen Horton both of Elk Creek; granddaughter, Krystal Sparks of Elk Creek; great-grandson, Levi Horton of Elk Creek, Virginia; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will be meeting at the home of Jeff and Rosie Jones in Elk Creek, Virginia.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 11:00 at the Comers Rock Cemetery by Rev. Johnny Johnson.  Military Rites will be conducted by Grayson V.F. W. Post #7726.
