Ella Mae Akers Brewer, age 80, of Galax, Virginia died on Thursday morning, June 9, 2022, at the Twin County Community Hospital in Galax, Virginia.  Mrs. Brewer was born on August 17, 1941, in Wythe County, the Ivanhoe Community, to Harve Ballard and Annie Mae Burnett Akers. She was the widow of William Raymond Brewer.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey "Sonny" Akers.

Mrs. Brewer lived a life of simplicity.  She was always content putting others before herself.  She was a caregiver who took great joy in caring for her patients.  She had an undying love for her family and loved involving them in one of her pranks!  In her retirement years, she enjoyed watching television and spending time with her dog, Precious.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa and James Gilbert of Galax, Virginia; her grandsons, William Hernandez Guzman and Jaime Hernandez Guzman both of Galax, sister-in-law, Nettie and Danny Robert Frost of Elk Creek, VA; niece, Patricia and Jerry Dowell of Galax, VA; nephew, Charles and Erin Akers of Galax, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 12:00 noon at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
