Elmer Lee Ours, age, 89 of Damascus, VA passed away at his home following a brief illness.  He was born on December 1, 1935, in Damascus to Emory and Hazel Blevins Ours.

Elmer loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as long as his health permitted.  He loved riding 4-wheelers and enjoyed horse racing. He was an avid NASCAR Fan with all of his support directed to the Denny Hamlin team.  He enjoyed working in his yard and maintaining a pretty lawn.  Elmer was a fan of bluegrass music.  While he enjoyed many aspects of life, his greatest joy was being surrounded by his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ours; siblings, Earn, Paul, Gene, Ola and Wilma.  He is survived his wife, Nora E. Ours; daughter, Kelly Ours of the home; step-daughter, Juanita Tremmell of Bristol, VA; one step son, Lawrence and Debbie Tremmell of Damascus; three sisters, Phyllis and Tracy Proffitt of Damascus, Delta Curve of Lenoir, NC, and Lola Hamm of Lenoir; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive.

The family wishes to honor the request of Mr. Ours by not having any public funeral or memorial service.
