"Elmer "Mack" Reedy, age 89, of Troutdale, VA passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2025, surrounded by family.

Mack was born on June 4th, 1936, in Rugby, VA, to Willie and Faye Reedy. He was devoted to his wife, Ella Mae Reedy, and daughter Marticia Michelle Mathias. Mack cherished his two granddaughters, Jamie Addington (married to Matt Addington) and Jessie Mathias (engaged to Andrew Dickerson), and he especially treasured the time he spent in the last few months of his life living with his great-grandchildren, Maylee (12), Jordan (11), and Malina (8) Addington.

He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Carter, and Mary Reedy, whom he loved dearly, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His friends and neighbors from the Troutdale community were also a big part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae, his siblings, and his beloved dog Mello. He leaves behind his kitty cat Mitzy, who now lives with his granddaughter in Waynesboro.

Mack had a lifelong love for children and animals, and his kindness extended to everyone he met. He had many dear friends in the Troutdale community and will be remembered as one of the most generous and giving people you could ever know.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Smyth County Hospital, and the Hospice of the Piedmont staff, caregivers & friends for their care and support during this time."

Funeral services will held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, 2:00 PM at Reins~Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family will gather immediately following the burial at Mack's home at 64 Mid Park Lane in Troutdale, VA.
