Eva A. Phipps, age 92, of Independence, Virginia passed away at her home on January 26, 2023.  She was born in the Flatridge Community of Grayson County, VA to James Lester and Clair Cornett Anderson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bill Phipps, her four brothers, and eight sisters, and a great granddaughter. Mrs. Phipps'

zest for life was best described by her grandson who said, "granny and PaPaw had the ability to make Grayson County interesting to a young boy."  Growing up in a home of 13 siblings in the rural community of Flatridge, Eva learned responsibility at a young age.  Her daughters said that "God granted them the best – most loving and dedicated mother ever."  They also wish to express their appreciation to her son-in-law, Kenneth Ogle- who could always make her smile. The family is rejoicing that their parents have been reunited to enjoy their lives together again.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Vicki Phipps Reedy of Christiansburg, VA and Rebecca and Kenneth Ogle of Independence, VA; one son, Ted Phipps of Christiansburg, VA; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.  Her daughters wish to express their appreciation to Eva's caregivers, Shelby, Marylin, and Barbara.
