Everett Lee Brewer, better known as "Buck Brewer", age 78 of Independence, VA, the Little Fox Creek Community, passed away on the early hours of Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in the High Point Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.  He was born on May 25, 1946, in the Little Fox Community to John and Bridie Phipps Brewer.  Buck Brewer was a mountain man who loved his community.  He was an avid horseman who enjoyed riding in the surrounding wagon trains and was known to have chased a bear on horseback. He will be remembered for his ability at gardening and demanding that everything he raised to be properly canned.  He was a timber man who enjoyed cutting and transporting logs.  He was also a milk hauler who gathered milk in the local community.  He was a skilled mason who enjoyed brick work.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed wildcrafting and hunting for Ginseng, Bloodroot, and Mayapple.  He often took his children with him on wildcrafting expeditions.  Buck was a friend to many and he will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Everett Lee Brewer Jr., better known as "Buckshot" and an infant  granddaughter, Keri Wright.

He is survived by his daughter, Nora Ann and Brian Wright of Cana, VA; one sister, Gardella Sexton of Independence, VA; grandsons, Michael Wright and Christopher Wright of Cana, VA, and Jeremy Wright and Kandy Milligan of Independence, VA; one granddaughter, Candice Brewer of Independence, VA; four great grandchildren; special friends, Sam Warren and Jimmy Woods also survive.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home immediately prior to the graveside services which will be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at the Grubb's Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Brady Wright officiating.   Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA is serving the Brewer family.
