Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Frances Kathleen "Kathy" Fagan Graff announces her death.  Her life closed at the Forsyth Medical Center on July 25, 2025, following an extended illness.  She was born in Torrance, California on November 21, 1955, to Leonard John and Lois Jeanne Hughes Fagan.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard John Fagan, Jr; and one sister, Sheri Linn.

Kathy life's is best defined in the words that her son and caregiver, Brian Graff posted on his Facebook account shortly following his mother's passing: "My mom passed last night, she was my whole heart.  There isn't a woman alive that could take my mom's place.  I will miss her dearly, but I know that she lives through me.  She is now back in the stream of our collective consciousness.  If ever I'm in need I know that I can see her in the hummingbirds that she loved so much, in the flowers that she meticulously planted every year, and in the long summer days spent in the warmth of the sun, her favorite time of year.  I'll miss hearing her tell me how tan and buff I look this year.  I'll miss the way she said my name and how she never called me by my full name unless I was in trouble.  I'll miss her smile, support and encouragement.  She was always my number one fan.  But isn't that how a mother should be?  She was a perfect example of an imperfect world, and she was all the more beautiful because of it.  I learned kindness, empathy, and compassion from her.  I inherited her sharp tongue and tenacity, some on the receiving end would refer to it as "The Wrath of Frances" (My Dad).  To encapsulate my mom using words just doesn't seem to do it justice.  If you knew her you know that too.  Thank you for showing me a love without compare. I know not everyone is not as fortunate as I to have had a mother like you.  I love you with all my heart.           "

Kathy is survived by her husband, Robert H. Graff of the home; two sons; Brian Graff of the home and Jacob E. Graff and Rhonda Saunders of New Jersey; one daughter, Kelly Graff of Ashe County, North Carolina; two sisters, Patricia and Poe Poscher and Sue and Jim Burnett both of Oklahoma; one brother, Kevin Fagan of Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Steve Linn of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Rachel Graff, Levi Graff, and Shayla Graff; one great grandchild, Laila Graff; mother of her grandchildren, Denise Carney of New Jersey; a host of extended family, friends and neighbors also survive.
