Frank Allen Dowell, age 69, of Independence, VA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 30, 2024, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.  Frank was born on February 19, 1955, in Marion, VA to the late Avery and Ruth Chandler Dowell.

He was a graduate of Independence High School, class of 1973.  He was Director of Manufacturing at Donnkenny Inc. for 27 years and Director of Mount Rogers IDC for 20 years.  He served on the Independence Town Council from 1984-1998.  He was actively involved in his church where he served as deacon, trustee, Sunday School teacher, moderator, and served on the building committee.  He loved giving the children's sermon.  He will be remembered as one who found great joy in helping others.  One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed maintaining his home and especially delighted in working outside in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Dowell of the home; three daughters, Kimberly Bosquet of Danielsville, GA, Christina Cochran (Giles) and Carmen Nolen both of Roanoke, VA; one brother Danny Dowell of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Chandler Bosquet, Reagan Bosquet, Taylor Cochran, Grayson Cochran and Landon Cochran; one great-grandchild, Beau Bennett; special family, Tiffani and Robby Lyons and their children, Noah and Aubrey of Max Meadows, VA.; special niece, Kisha Donahue, Marietta GA; and special nephew, Jason Dowell, Fletcher, NC.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Harris officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Independence Town Cemetery.  The family will be accepting friends at the Independence Fire Department following the graveside service.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Road Dobson, NC 27017.
