In loving memory of Frankie Hill Phipps, age 86, of Elliott Place, Independence, VA., passed away January 28, 2024, at Waddell Nursing Home in Galax, VA. Mrs. Phipps was born on March 31, 1937, to the late Paul and Ruth Idol Hill-Gullion. In addition to her parents, Frankie was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby (Robert) Phipps; son, Johnny Phipps; grandsons, Matthew Hash and Michael Phipps; and one brother, Kenneth (Buck) Hill.
Frankie was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her canine companion, Patches. She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her delectable Christmas dinners that brought joy to the entire family. A talented seamstress from the heart of Phipps Holler, Frankie was a proud Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan who loved riding the pontoon boat on the serene lake waters in Santee Cooper, SC. She was devoted to her neighbors in the close-knit community of Elliott Place. Frankie's pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was evident through her attendance at every ballgame and school function.
Mrs. Phipps is survived by two daughters, Robin (Rusty) Crawford of Independence, VA, and Becky (Gary) Cole of Mt. Airy, NC; one son, Jeffery (Christine) Phipps of Independence, VA; grandchildren, Staci Galyean, Kristen White, Hailey Brown, Olivia Phipps, Tabitha Phipps, Brandon Cole, and Daniel Crawford; great grandchildren, Jacob Scout, Blakely, Ethan, Ella, Zack, Catlin, Paul, and Henry; special friend, John; sister-in-law, Judy Hill; and brother-in-law, Dale Phipps.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Brush Creek Cemetery with Rev. David Osborne and Larry Osborne officiating. Friends may call on the family from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. A reception will immediately follow at Mt. View Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
