Mr. Pickett was born at Taylor, Arkansas to Tom Pickett and Lillian Stevens Pickett. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Campaign

Surviving, wife, Betty Mae Pickett of the home; two daughters, Latricia Pickett of Jefferson, NC and Latawyna and Jim Tester of Zionville, NC; Four grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive
