Fred Arnold Hash, Sr, age 86, of Elk Creek, Virginia passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, at the Sovah Hospital Of Martinsville, VA.  He was born on June 15, 1936, in Grayson County Virginia to Steve Charles and Sally Marie Poole Hash.

He was devoted to his family and enjoyed sharing about his childhood and reflecting upon his life.  He enjoyed his cigars and pipe.  He loved out of doors especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and ginseng hunting.  He was an avid Kyle Busch fan.  He was well respected within his community and outside his community.  He was a neighbor and friend who will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Lucille Shaffer Hash, his sisters, Ethel Brewer, Mary Lou Sturgill, Euna Lundy and Ruth McKinnon; two brothers, Carl and Curtis Hash.

He is survived by his children, Anne Walker of Elk Creek, Fred Arnold Hash, Jr. of Rural Retreat, VA, and Allen and Brenda Hash of Sparta, NC; four grandchildren, Danielle Walker, Justin and Corinne Walker, Tyler Choate and fiancée, Laken Ring, Zachary Hash; one great grandchild, Talen Kade Choate; his faithful and constant companion, his dog, Wrinkles.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday morning at 11:00 AM at the Forest United Methodist Church in Elk Creek, VA with Pastor Gleasanna Dixon officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
