Fred Louis Hawkins, age 86 of Fries, Virginia passed away on his 86 ^th birthday, May 11, 2023, at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Grayson County on 1937 to Guy and Ethel Lineberry Hawkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Shupe Hawkins and his daughter, Linda Dowell.

Fred lived an honest and simple life. He enjoyed fishing and mowing his lawn. He also enjoyed mechanical work on mowers. He loved time with his family and was always happiest when outdoors! He loved a meal at Firehouse Subs in Roanoke! He has been a member of Church of God of Prophecy since 1971.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie and Dallas Choate of Fries, VA; two grandsons, James and Melanie Dowell and Dahlius Crowsley both of Fries, VA; two great-grandsons, Will Gravely and Jacob Dowell both of Fries, VA; one sister, Anna Mae Melton of Galax, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Church of God of Prophecy in Fries, VA with Rev. Tony Vaughan and Rev. Bobo Gravely officiating. Burial will follow in the Atkins Cemetery in Fries, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
