Geneva Maude Rutherford Brown, age 81, of Independence, Virginia formerly of the Mouth of Wilson Community, died January 23, 2020 at her home. She was the widow of Dwain Harmon Brown.  She was born October 27, 1938 in Fox, Virginia to Woodrow and Lena Holdaway Rutherford.

She is survived by six daughters: Mildred Rodroguez of Lakeland,Florida, Wanda and Bill Pickens of Abbeyville, South Carolina, Liz and Duane Young of Street, Maryland, Barbara and Milton Hicks of Independence, Virginia, Janet and Robin Powell of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, and Bonnie and Jim "Bo" Sells of Sparta, North Carolina; one son, Dwain Brown of Glade Valley, North Carolina; three sisters, Elsie and Howard Miller of Melbourne, Florida, Mary and Herb McVey of Dublin, Maryland, and Velva and Paul Coombs of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania; one brother, Jim Rutherford of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Wilma Rutherford of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia; twenty grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, January 27, 2020 and 11:00 AM at Gold Hill Baptist Church with Pastor, Rev. David Trent officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gold Hill Cemetery in Independence, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Gold Hill Baptist Church.
