Obituary

Geneva Lucille Greer Blevins, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, age 73, of the Green Cove Community of Damascus, VA passed away with her family and her beloved dog, Bo at her side.  Her passing on the evening of March 23, 2024, has left a void in the hearts of all who loved her.  She was born in Washington County in the Green Cove Community on January 24, 1951, to Robert John Greer, Sr. and Agnes Marie Walls Greer.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant siblings, Connie Greer and Stacy Greer and her sister, Oma Jean Blevins.  Geneve was a model wife, mother, and grandmother.  She had no greater joy than providing for her family and making them a comfortable and happy home.  She will be remembered as an excellent cook with her fudge and "preacher man cookies" as favorites among everybody.  Geneva was a dedicated employee to Mr. Casuals textile industry.  She was among the first to be hired and remained loyal until the plant closed.  Her work as a supervisor at Mr. Casuals won her the respect and admiration of all of those who worked with her.  She was a life-long member of Green Cove Baptist Church where she served as piano player as well as piano player for Konnarock Baptist Church.  She was blessed with a flawless alto singing voice which she used to the Glory of God singing with other members of her family forming The Greer Family singing group.  She was a much-loved babysitter and also worked at the "In the Country Café" where she enjoyed the interaction with many of her friends and neighbors.   She loved all animals and had a special place in her heart for her dog, Bo.  While the family grieves their great loss, they are comforted in knowing that Geneva has been welcomed into paradise where a host of family and friends greeted her with a heavenly welcome!

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Blevins of the home; one son, Marty Blevins of the home; one daughter, Julie Blevins of the home; four grandchildren, Adam and Emily Blevins of Damascus, VA, Cole and Katlyn Blevins of Chilhowie, VA, Libby Price of the home, and Heather Blevins of Damascus, VA; two sisters, Louise and Melvin Blevins of Damascus, and Wanda Wiles of Mouth of Wilson, VA, one brother, Robert John Greer, Jr. "Bobby" and Lisa Greer of Konnarock, VA; step brother, Billy Stike of Damascus; step-sister, Donna and Mark Lawson of Chilhowie, VA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Green Cove Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Poe and Rev. Bill Moorfield officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 PM prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in the Green Cove Cemetery.
