Gerald Bruster Sexton. Age, 91, of Galax, died Friday morning at Twin Community Hospital in Galax, Virginia. Mr. Sexton was born March 25, 1926 in Elk Creek, Virginia to Charles W. and Sena Miller Sexton. He was a veteran of WWII serving as a Private First Class in Patton's 3rd Army. He served in Germany and Austria liberating many concentration camps earning a Silver Star award. After being wounded in Austria, he was given an Honorable Discharge. He was a faithful member of the VFW and the DAV and was a member of the Masonic Lodge receiving a 32nd Degree. Those who loved him most knew him as Daddy, Papa and Great Papa. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Sexton is survived by three daughters: Barbara Ann and David Clements of Stuart's Draft, Virginia, Linda Sue Waller of Galax, Virginia, Patricia and Joe Salmons of Bassett, Virginia; Two sons: William and Stephanie Sexton of Harrison, Tennessee, Walter Lynn "Butch" Sexton of Galax, Virginia; Two Brothers: Paul Sexton of Wytheville, Virginia, Silas and Betty Sexton of Bean Station, Tennessee; One sister: Betty Wynn of Wytheville, Virginia; 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Morris with burial to follow in the Forest United Methodist Cemetery in Elk Creek, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
