Gilbert Blaine Suitt, age 69, of Mouth of Wilson, VA, the Fox Creek Community, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center in Independence, VA.  He was born on August 1, 1954, in Ashe County North Carolina to the late Blaine Clifford and Martha Annie Pugh Suitt.

He served the Grayson County Sherriff's office and retired after 21 years of service.  He was a fan of Old Time Music and will be remembered as an excellent bass player as well as a talented autoharp musician.  He was an avid Virginia Tech fan as well as an Atlanta Braves fan.  He was a supporter of Nascar and was always willing to defend Bill Elliott!  Gilbert loved going to the beach and "watching the waves."  He will be remembered as a dedicated family man, dedicated grandpa, and a good neighbor.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Donna Suitt of the home; one daughter, Melissa and Tim Smith of Woodlawn, VA; two sisters, Barbara Nichols of Independence, VA and Susie Robertson of Independence, VA; grandchildren, Jenna, Camryn, Ashley, and Haleigh; great grandchildren, Madalyne, Karleigh, and Brooklyn; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the Living By Faith Baptist Church in Independence, VA with Pastor Derek Cowan officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service from 2:00-3:00.
