Glenda Clark
Hall Stone
February 13, 1940 — October 24, 2025
Glenda Clarke Hall Stone, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at 85 years of age at the Grayson Rehab and Nursing Center in Independence, VA, on Friday, October 24, 2025. Born on Feb. 13, 1940, in Roanoke, VA to James and Nina Cornett Hall, Glenda worked in the banking business. She was a loving and supportive wife to Jackie Dean Stone who preceded her in death. She will be remembered as a prayer warrior who was very public about her faith. She loved all people, and she was loved by all people. Among her many talents, she was recognized as an expert seamstress using her skills to
help family and community members alike. Glenda loved her community of Elk Creek and was always involved in all community projects. She especially enjoyed the Hillbilly Comedy Plays which brought many smiles and laughs to the neighborhood. Glenda was a serious Rook player and loved to share a game with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Nanie." The word "no" was not in her vocabulary where her grandchildren, Lindsey and Parker were concerned. Family and family fellowship was of great importance to her. She delighted in providing many opportunities for her family to gather. Having lost her father at a young age, Glenda became another parent to her siblings. Among the fondest memories of Glenda's grandchildren, were her recounting of her youthful days and reflecting upon past years. A visit with Glenda always ended with her standing at the window waving goodbye until the car lost sight.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Glenda was preceded in death by her brother Rev. Jimmy Hall.
She is survived by her son Jason and Summer Stone of Rural Retreat, VA; two grandchildren, Lindsey and William Clark of Charlotte, NC and Parker Stone of Rural Retreat; one brother, Nelwln Hall of Elk Creek, VA; sister-in-law, Joyce Hall of Elk Creek; a host of extended family, friends, and community members.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, evening at 7:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Byrd officiating.
