Glenn Ward Phipps, age 85, of Galax, VA, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Grayson Nursing and Healthcare Center. Glenn was born on December 2, 1938, to Loy Glenn and Hazel Anna Ward Phipps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Phipps.

After retiring, Glenn enjoyed his love for travel, often setting out to explore new places and enjoy meals at different restaurants with family and friends.  Glenn also worked as a dedicated meat cutter at the Old Town Market where he was known for his hard work and friendliness. He also enjoyed working at the knitting and textile mill in Galax, VA. He loved being outdoors and spent countless hours raising giant gardens and farming tobacco.

Left to cherish Glenn's memory are his children, Tony Phipps and wife Monica of Galax, VA; daughter, Sandy Cope and husband John of Virginia Beach, VA; one stepson, Thomas Mark and Kristen Watson of Asheville, NC; his brother, Bobby Phipps and wife Patsy of Galax, VA. six grandchildren, John, Skyler, Justin, Jacqueline, Adam; seven great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Reins~Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Bartlett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery in Galax, VA.
